School Board Recognition Month!

The month of January is School Board Recognition Month - a time to salute the work of our elected School Board Members and to celebrate public education.  Our School Board Members are committed to quality public education and dedicate countless personal hours to ensure schools are accountable to the community and strongly advocate for continuous improvement in student learning. Please see the attached message from Dr. Sturock, Superintendent, and be sure to take a moment and thank a School Board Member for their service!

Announcement of New Superintendent

The Allen Park Board of Education is proud to announce the selection of Mr. Michael H. Darga to lead the district as its next Superintendent, replacing retiring Superintendent, Dr. John J. Sturock.  Mr. Darga was chosen from a highly qualified field of candidates following a very rigorous selection process conducted over the past few months with the assistance of the Michigan Leadership Institute.

The Board would like to express heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed time, energy and thoughtful input to the Superintendent qualifications, stakeholder sessions and interview process.

We are excited to begin the next chapter for the Allen Park Public Schools, and believe that Mr. Darga will continue to move the district forward in our efforts to provide a quality education for all students.

Innovative Program at APHS-LINKS

The APHS LINKS Program has been in place for a number of years and connects general education students with students on the autism spectrum.  The purpose is to promote positive role modeling, social skill opportunities, compassion, awareness and understanding - all of which benefits the entire school culture.  The students involved in this program recently put together a video highlighting what they do on a daily basis.  Enjoy the clip! https://youtu.be/w0kdheP2fbA

Need Help With Homework?

Need help with homework?  The APHS National Honor Society offers homework help on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (that school is in session) from 2:45 until 4:45 p.m. at the Allen Park Public Library.  The program begins Thursday, September 29.  NOTE: Elementary aged students should be directly supervised by a parent or other responsible adult while participating in the program.  See attached for details!
